Description

This role will involve providing electrical / mechanical support to our client’s manufacturing site,  safely carrying out electrical and mechanical installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of machinery, engineering plant and site services. 

MULTI SKILLED MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

UP TO £35K DOE

THE ROLE

  • Carrying out repairs to production machinery, fixtures and equipment using lathe, drills, miller and grinders and by welding, brazing and soldering
  • Undertaking and documenting scheduled PPM maintenance
  • Responding to all breakdowns including Electrical and Mechanical fault diagnosis
  • Re-sleeving radial chuck jaws and glass-holding tools with heat-resistant tape
  • Changing water saw blade for production as and when required
  • Assisting with machine and equipment upgrade
  • Fire alarm and emergency light weekly testing
  • Safe use and operation of site fork lift trucks
  • Fitting grinding wheels in accordance with regulations.
  • Participating in 5s and Kaizen improvement activity
  • Supporting project work on site as required.
  • Undertaking reactive works in a timely manner to deliver within the department KPIs
  • Upkeep and maintenance of plant room, including 5s activity
  • Conducting handover with opposite shift to ensure smooth transition
  • Undertaking in weekend work and overtime to business needs as required
  • Supporting the quality management strategy and plans

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  •  Proven experience in a manufacturing environment with both preventative and reactive experience
  • A recognised apprenticeship or period of formal training in a multi skilled discipline with a bias to electrical qualifications
  • 17/18th Edition Electrical qualification
  • Abrasive wheel trained
  • A qualification in Lean six sigma and health and safety is desirable
  • Knowledge of installing/repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and PLC equipment
  • Understanding of reliability control maintenance processes and asset clarification
  • Demonstrated experience of continuous improvement processes and implementation
  • Valid Fork lift truck licence
  • PC literate with advanced understanding of Microsoft office and engineering management systems
