HR Advisor   

Stoke on Trent

37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday (hybrid working available)

Up to £32,000 per annum DOE

THE ROLE

The HR Advisor role is part of a small team of HR Advisors who will work in a pool to offer seamless casework management support and advice, to train, coach and develop Line Managers to fulfil their managers responsibilities.

The main responsibilities of the HR Advisor role are:

  • To be the first point of contact for ER casework, including conduct, capability, grievance and advice on flexible working requests
  • To oversee all allocated ER cases, proving accurate, consistent and timely advice
  • Coaching and developing managers in their application of HR policies and procedures
  • Delivering Inductions and HR related training courses
  • Advising and monitoring completion of probation management
  • Supporting the business to manage employee wellbeing to help reduce sickness absence
  • General administration – keeping accurate records and ensuring the casework spreadsheet is maintained and up to date
  • Providing advice on the recruitment process, including interviewing and selection
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of policies and making recommendations for changes
  • Providing cover for the HR Administrator

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Applicants for the HR Advisor role will need:

  • CIPD Level 5 or working towards this
  • HR generalist experience, preferably with exposure to wholesale/distribution
  • Good knowledge and understanding of all areas of HR policies and processes, and practical application
  • Solid understanding of UK Employment Legislation
  • Experience of coaching managers in investigations and resolution HR case work
  • Passion for upskilling Line Managers and experience of writing and delivering line management training
  • Experience of proactively managing sickness absence
  • Strong problem solving abilities whilst being able to exercise good judgment when assessing risk and escalating case work
  • Ability to build credibility quickly and manage stakeholders well
  • Flexibility in working hours to support a 24/7 operation
  • Good organisational, administration and IT skills – with experience of working with a HRIS system
  • Flexibility to travel to other sites
  • Full driving licence
