Candidate Shortage is a Continued Issue for the UK Job Market

Latest Employment News: Candidate Shortage is a Continued Issue for the UK Job Market.

Accordingly to the latest survey undertaken by the Recruitment Employment Confederation (REC) over of 22% of the 600 employers questioned plan to take on more permanent staff in the medium term, with only 1 per cent planning to decrease their headcount.  A third of employers surveyed said that they feel that economic conditions are improving and over half have recruited additional staff in the last year.  However, over half said that they felt that there would continue to be a shortage of candidates available for permanent jobs and that this was concerning. This is expected to be particularly prominent in sectors such as engineering and construction amongst others.

From a local perspective, we feel that the number of available jobs in North Staffordshire and South Cheshire is at a consistently high level.  However, the local candidate market reflects the national issues outlined above with demand for relevant skills and experience outstripping availability.  This is clearly a good position if you are a candidate with skills that are in demand!

Intro Personnel would like to hear from you if you are looking for a new temporary or permanent position.  We have a wide selection of vacancies available that can be found at https://www.intropersonnel.co.uk/jobs/

In addition, if you are a local employer looking to recruit and cannot find the right person for your role, we can offer a consultative approach to recruitment and can provide guidance on how to make your job as attractive as possible to potential candidates.

Intro Personnel are proud to be members of the REC.  Further reading can be found at https://www.rec.uk.com/news-and-policy/press-releases/candidate-shortage-threatens-the-job-market-feel-good-factor-rec
