Over 2000 Jobs Created Locally!

Government statistics released this week have revealed that in the past year, more than 2,000 private sector jobs were created in North Staffordshire. The growth of 2,200 jobs in the 12 month period is the second highest in the West Midlands region. The percentage of the labour force now in employment also increased by more than 3 percent up to 70 by 2013. The deputy chief executive of the North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce said that “Our manufacturing firms are confident, investing, growing and exporting to markets around the world; this is creating the skilled jobs our local economy needs”.

In addition, figures released by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) earlier this week have revealed that the UK economy grew by 1.9% in 2013, marking the strongest rate in growth since 2007. The UKs service sector, which makes up more than three-quarters of economic output, grew by 0.8% in the fourth quarter and Manufacturing grew by 0.9%.
